What’s better than owning a brand new Postland home? Styling it! There’s nothing quite like making your house your home, and with so many ideas at the tap of your fingers, we want to give you our best advice when it comes to adding the finishing touches to your home:
- Take it a room at a time
Whilst you want to create cohesion throughout your entire house, to avoid overwhelm, tackle a room at a time. This will help you to focus and make decisions when it comes to layout, furniture and key décor elements.
- Utilise Pinterest for inspiration
Pinterest is incredible tool for finding inspiration. Search by room, by style, by feature (you name it) and save any ideas to a board relating to the room you’re focussing on.
- Create a moodboard
Once you’ve honed your vibe and found inspiration, create a moodboard to layout your room and ideas. Canva is a great tool, but a simple Microsoft Word document can work too. Add the images you like to the moodboard to begin to build up a picture of how each element could work together. Consider textures, colour palettes, furniture and linens. This will give you a layout to work from.
- Create a budget
Maybe you want to tackle it all in one go, or spread out the cost over time, however you’re going to tackle it, create a budget so you can prioritise how you invest your money. This will give you margin to work with and within and will help you to identify high-investment pieces vs. items you want to save on.
- Source your moodboard
With a moodboard and budget in place it’s time for the fun part: pulling it all together! We love to combine new items with things we’ve found in antique stores or stumbled across on Facebook Marketplace. Wherever and however you source your items, it’s time to really make your house your home.
